The Heat is On

The Pacesetter 12s are halfway through their winning season (29—9—0) and looking forward to a summer of no school and more baseball.
The team got four more tournaments under their belts in the month of May. The Pacesetters’ third place finish at the Slugfest tournament in Indianola, IA was their best showing last month. The team went 4 and 1 with a tough loss in the semi-final.
The Pacesetter 12s’ pitching continues to hold opponents to low scoring games. In their 29 winning games, Pacesetters’ opponents have averaged only 4.1 runs. Defense continues to improve and the team is glad to welcome Nate back at second base following a foot fracture that had him temporarily sidelined.
The team is ready for their next tournament this weekend in Papillion. They will be looking to match their play on defense with more activity at the plate than they had this weekend in Lincoln. Once again, solid pitching at the Rebels tournament could not make up for cold bats. The Pacesetters ended the weekend with a disappointing 2 and 3 record. And while they finished 10th of 14 teams, only the Rebels allowed fewer runs than the Pacesetters, who allowed a total of 13 runs in 5 games.
The highlight of the Memorial Day weekend was a relaxing barbecue and fun at Jonny’s home on the warmest Saturday of the season. But with a week off from competition and focused practice at the plate, there is no doubt the Pacesetters will be the team to beat in Papillion.
